| THE
MORNING MIRROR
by Pistol Pete Midtgard
Sometimes
the morning mirror is brutal to my eyes,
But, I force a long look in it and I breath a
heavy sigh.
I find myself reflecting, on how I’ve played
the game,
And I know there’s no way I should be ashamed.
Each wrinkle tells a story, some bitter, but some
sweet.
Each scar brings back a memory, of victory or
defeat.
My aging face writes chapters, of all my pride
and pain
And I know there’s no way I should be ashamed.
Chorus:
I’m getting older, getting wiser,
I’ve paid my dues, I’ve done my time.
It’s all finally making sense now,
I’m getting older, now watch me shine.
Now I wasted my young manhood in an alcoholic
rage.
So many jobs and women, so many wicked ways,
But I don’t regret a moment, and the past
cannot be changed.
I know there’s no one but myself to blame.
(Chorus)
